You Were Born For This

I returned home from a huge speech I gave recently all fired and jacked up. As I was telling my father about it he asked me this question “were you nervous?” My answer was, “not at all, I was born for this.” Going into this speech it was one of the first times I wasn’t nervous really at all however it was probably the most important speech I’ve ever given. I was more anxious and excited than anything but not nervous. My constant thought was, I was born for this, lets go!

I began to ask myself why I wasn’t nervous. The only conclusion I could come to was I have really become confident in my calling. I have become more and more confident in my purpose, and gift. I have began to trust god more and more. I am not worried about messing up, I know I will, I am focused on just being faithful through my work. I am not worried about perfection, I am focused on just doing what I am supposed to do.

Getting to the point where you are confident in your calling and purpose may take time, and for me it has. When I started chasing my dream of being a motivational speaker I was EXTREMELY scared and nervous. I didn’t have any real assurance that this was REALLY what I was born for. But the more that I did it, the more I began to realize that I was better than what I thought I was, making more of an impact than I thought I was making. When I started I didn’t really let myself loose because I wasn’t very confident. Overtime and the more I am faithful to my calling, the more confident I have become in it.

You were born for this. You’ve got to step out on faith though even when you aren’t 100% sure. Faith is not stationary, it is movement. You’ve got to move on faith. If you are waiting for complete assurance, it is not coming, sorry to be the one to break it to you, but it’s not. You got to bet on the odds. Then once you’ve built the muscle, you will begin to realize that you were born for this. Nervousness will begin to subside and just straight excitement will take over because you will begin to get excited for what God is going to do through you.

Love ya,
