I used to dread Mondays. I used to try to squeeze every last second of my Sunday night out because I knew Monday was coming. I used to walk into work on Monday thinking, here we go again, another week another dollar. I used to go into work on Monday tired with a bad attitude. Have you ever felt this way or do you currently feel this way about Monday? What I noticed was the majority of people around me had the same attitude and felt the same way about Monday. Then one day I decided enough is enough, I am going to change the way I look at Monday. Instead of it being the worst day of the week, I am going to call it Opportunity Day. I think this was a great term for it because there is probably more opportunity to get ahead of the crowd on Monday than any other day of the week. Most people mentally take Monday off. They are still thinking about the weekend and they definitely don’t want to be at work that day. It still hasn’t set in that its real life and yes they have to work today!
If you have a dream, vision, and purpose for your life everyday should be opportunity day but especially Monday because if you want to separate yourself from the world around you there isn’t a better day. There isn’t a better day to walk into work with a pace and attitude about you that you are going to attack the day like you never have before. I always get up earlier than usual on Monday because I want plenty of time to get myself into the right mindset for the week. I want to make sure my week starts off on the right foot not the wrong one. I want to make sure I have a successful first day of the week and build momentum for the rest of the week. I heard someone say when I was 20 years old, watch the masses and do the opposite. When you go into work today just notice what people say to you at the coffee pot, or when they sit down at their desk. Take notice of their attitudes and work ethic that day, then what I want you to do is the opposite, it will make all the difference. If you are really crazy, walk into work and start telling everyone “Happy Opportunity Day!”
I promise you if you stop looking at Monday as a pain and you start looking at Monday as a day to get ahead, as Opportunity Day, it will make a huge difference. As you attack and crush the day of the week that is seemingly the hardest day for everyone else you will begin to believe in yourself more. You will begin to become more confident in your gifts. You will begin to believe more and more that the dream in your heart can and will come true. I am in love with Monday. I always look forward to Monday because I know it is my day to get ahead of the rest of the world. Now go crush Opportunity Day like you never have before!
