Never Take Baby Steps!!

I have heard it time and time again, just take baby steps or I am going to just take baby steps for now and ease into it. I actually bought into this thinking for a while and thought yeah we should just take baby steps and just ease into chasing our dreams. What I learned is that most people that ease into chasing their dreams are also ones that quit the fastest because it is a lot easier to turn around and go back when your walking than it is when you are running! The good word says “Run in such a way as to get the prize.” Look when I was taking baby steps towards what I wanted for my life, it was extremely easy to take days off, to count the cost, but when I jumped all in and started sprinting turning around just wasn’t an option.

The biggest reason why you wouldn’t start running towards your dreams and you will just take “baby steps” is one word fear. When I started writing, I wrote every day for months before I released a darn thing to the world. I sent a couple blogs hear and there to a few people aka “taking baby steps” because I was scared. I feared what people would think of me if I released my message to the world. I feared getting made fun of. I feared criticism. It took me months to release my writing to the world, I was walking. It would have been a heck of a lot easier to stop chasing my dream in that time because who would have known I had quit? No one, because I was too afraid to start running and people notice when you are running. Now that I am in the thick of it, and and sprinting everyday it would be extremely hard to just stop, turn around and go back to what I was doing before.

Running gives you freedom. When you are taking baby steps because you are afraid of going all in and sprinting after the life you want, you are in imprisoned. You are imprisoned to yourself. When you start running and you decide to smash through that fear like the powerful human being you are, you become free. You start to care less and less about what peopled think which gives you more and more freedom to do what you need to do to make your dreams a reality. I feared putting a video of myself on instagram. I am not a selfie guy, I hate them. But I knew this is something I needed to do, so I just did it. You know what I found? Since I showed the world that this is who I am and this is what I am doing, it became a lot easier to put the second video up because I was free and cared less about what people thought.

I implore you to stop taking baby steps and start running. In fact, SPRINT! Go all in. Fail. Learn. If you don’t run you will never get to where you want to be. The one life you have been given is not worth living in bondage of the fear of failure, or what people will think about you. Smash through that fear like the powerful human you were created to be and start running!

  1. Nick from Millennialology Podcast: Awesome! I feel like the size of the steps we take depend on each person. For me, I had no confidence in speaking in public. I didn’t like being that vulnerable in front of people. The big steps for me were making a YouTube account and taking Public Speaking classes where I HAVE to speak in front of people. Those were my big steps. They may be small steps to others, but for me, they are much, much different.
