The Fear You Need To Feel

Fear is sadly the number one motivator for action in our society. It motivates us to work harder at our job. It a lot of times can motivate us in our relationships. It can motivate us to do a lot of things. While fear is also the number one motivator to take action even more sadly it is the number one cause for inaction in our world. Fear stops people in their tracks more than anything else. The three fears that create inaction more than any other are the fear of failure, the fear of not fitting in, and the fear of what people will think. If we want to sum up all the reasons why each and every one of us won’t pursue our dreams and purpose its because of these three fears. They imprison us.

I know people say that fear isn’t real, or that it is False Evidence Appearing Real. While I agree with that, the truth is that we all feel fear to some extent. I don’t think redefining fear does anything for anybody. What I know will help is changing your viewpoint on fear. We need to see fear as a positive, as a good thing. Let me explain. It all depends on what we are fearing. We should be fearing regret more than anything. When opportunities come, when we think about doing the things that it will take to make our dreams a reality and we feel any of those three fears that create inaction, what I want you to do is think about the feeling of regret that you will feel if you don’t take action. Actually think about what it is going to feel like when you get to the end of your life, with no time left, wishing you had done what you didn’t do. Then I want you to harness the energy you get from the fear of failure, not fitting in or what people will think and fear regret with everything you have.

We always need to do the things that we fear. Fear is the best indicator of what we need to do. I feared putting a video of myself out there on social media but it was exactly what I needed to do. Being in sales I fear all the time calling on certain people but usually that is exactly what I need to do. There have been quite a few times where I feared confronting someone about something they were doing that was wrong, and it was exactly what I needed to do. Many of us fear money, so we hold onto it and never give it away or invest it into things that could dramatically change our lives. Whatever you are fearing that is creating inaction in your life, is whatever you need to do because fear is a great indicator. However, that didn’t always get me to take action. Knowing that I needed to do something when I feared it didn’t always get me to take action. But 100% of the time when I think about the feeling of regret and I choose to fear that with everything I have, I always take action.

We need to come to terms with the fact that we are going to feel fear to some extent for the rest of our life. If we let the fear of failure, what other people think, and not fitting in keep us stationary then we will never accomplish anything we were created to accomplish. I guarantee that when you feel any one of those three fears and its creating inaction, and you choose to think about the feeling you will feel at the end of your life regretting the things you didn’t do, you will take action. Use the positive fear of regret to change the course and destiny of your life forever!
